PIT & Fissure Sealant

Pit and fissure sealants are one of the most used dental treatments in paediatric dentistry, as it is a very effective method to prevent the appearance of caries. Fissure Sealant is used as a preventive measure against tooth decay. The treatment consists of placing a thin film of resin in the pit and fissure of the occlusal surfaces of the molars which will act as a protective barrier to prevent food debris and dental plaque from sticking in the fissure and tooth grooves. Thus, pit and fissure sealant has two mainly preventive effects - Act as a physical barrier, and facilitate cleaning during tooth brushing.

Fluoride Application

Fluoride is a natural mineral that builds strong teeth and prevents cavities. It’s been an essential oral health treatment for decades. Fluoride supports healthy tooth enamel and fights the bacteria that harm teeth and gums. Tooth enamel is the outer protective layer of each tooth. Dentists provide professional fluoride treatments in the form of a highly concentrated rinse, foam, gel, or varnish. The treatment may be applied with a swab, brush, tray, or mouthwash. These treatments have much more fluoride than what’s in your water or toothpaste. They only take a few minutes to apply. You may be asked to avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes after the treatment so the fluoride can fully absorb.

Oral Cancer Screening

An oral cancer screening is a visual and physical examination of the oral cavity, connected tissues performed by doctors or dentists and to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The main objective of this examination is to reassure a patient that there are no apparent problems associated with it. There are several factors responsible for oral cancer including tobacco, heavy consumption of liquor, over exposure to sunrays, etc. It is important for each individual to maintain healthy habits and intake of good food to avoid such complicated disease.

Diagnodent Screening for Caries

The diagnodent pen will show you where the decay lies. It works quickly and reliably. The laser fluorescence detector within the Diagnodent pen is a precise method for identifying fissure caries, proximal caries and periodontitis. Sub surface caries lesion can be extremely difficult to detect using an explorer, and the diagnodent offers a perfect adjunct to the diagnostic arsenal. It is especially useful for pit and fissure areas -even when the outer tooth surface seems to be intact.
